hi all,
Moving back to Denver with my horse and am looking for a place to board. We did board at a place in Littleton, but my horse needs more than my last place could offer, so I'm looking around again. My horse is not a super easy keeper and needs grain 2X a day, supps, and good quality hay. I would like something private with a run- doesn't have to be a stall, just a run with good coverage. We ride english (do some horse shows here), BUT are looking forward to being back on the trails together.

Our budget for board is around $350 a month. That does not include supplements or random extras.

Can be ANYWHERE around denver. North, East, South, West.

Thanks!

I don't have a specific boarding situation to suggest, because it does sound like you have requirements beyond most barns I've dealt with in the metro area.

Best for you to start calling around directly to the barns and find out who is willing to accomodate your requests for your horse and your riding needs.

My best advice, is old advice. Start hitting the tack and feed stores, craigslist and if you can attempt some shows, you might get some good recommendations. You can check with the Chronicle of the horse forums, also: Eventing barns near Denver, CO - Chronicle Forums

Look in the Index of Key Threads, under horses, for some links to try.

I don't have any specific advice to offer, except to check in Parker. We just moved here and there seems to be a lot of horses around and a couple of horse shops I've seen so far...they may be helpful in pointing you in the right direction.

I agree, Parker would be as good a place as any to start.

I know several people who board at the Friends of Horses facility in Centennial (just north of Arapahoe Road in Centennial) and have nothing but good things to say about it. I believe the website address is www.getahorse.org . Stall board (with daily turnout weather permitting into a private run) is $400 (includes hay 2x a day, plus grain if you provide it). I believe the outside runs with shelter are a bit cheaper than stall boarding in the barns. They offer easy access to riding trails in Cherry Creek State Park, and have an indoor arena, one large outdoor arena (lighted), a large round pen, and two smaller outdoor arenas. It's not a fancy place, but they keep the stalls clean, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Horses hate it when you do that.
