I really think I don't belong on this thread. At first I thought oh wow, that's hardly any money to live. Then I realized I live a different lifestyle, one that is not really the norm these days. DINK's are what we are. But thanks.
Well isn't that just marvelous!

Do you have cute little dogs that you spoil and call them your kids?

They can find a 600 to 700$ deal in Aurora

It's workable, but 60K will be too tight

all of your back and forth on what it takes to live comfortably has confirmed my decision long ago to stay where i am. Sucks.... I make more than twice the income you are all talking about and with a family of 4 we just scrape by. Don't get me wrong, I live OK, but there is no money left at the end of the month. I have always said that if i could find a job for 60 K i would move there and just tighten my belt. Maybe i need to find a job with a little larger starting salary? The way I look at it, is that if you have a job where you are, be grateful. When things turn around, then make a change.

$120K in San Ramon is like $200K in Denver.

According to a COL calculator I found, $68,401 in Denver would buy you the same lifestyle.

Actually we have one fur child. Little Zoe the pretty kitty. We don't really spoil her other than buy top grade cat food.

p.s. - It's always the persons that have a couple of kids that make comments like that.

I'm sorry. But I don't get it, you make twice what we are talking about? More than $60k?

I'm with you on the job thing, good to have one and I'm grateful.

I forgot to mention that we home-educate, but a good area would still be important to us.

You have all been very helpful. Appreciate the honest responses.
Sounds as if you thought it over & made the best decision. Best of luck to you & your family. There are a lot of lovey cities on the planet (I've lived in several dozen over the years), but being somewhere which feels like home & where one feels settled in the community cannot be easily bargained away. Sounds like you have a good family life & the grass isn't always greener, as you've seen. Best wishes!
