I'm a 37y/o male whose somewhat a professional/retired/student. I will have a rental budget of around $1100 a month, I figure that will be about midway up the ladder for the area, maybe maybe not?

I'd prefer to be around other professionals like myself and avoid the College scene.

I like being near outdoor activities, and sporting events, I'm also known to jump in the car and go for long drives to get to beautiful views.

I'm visiting the area for 4days beginning today, so any help would be great while I'm in town.

$1100 is a good budget for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment. Middle of the road 1 bedrooms range from $700-850.

Golden is a nice choice. Even though they have a college there, the scene isn't really what you might think it is. Only problem I found is there isn't a big supply of quality rentals there. A cheaper area with more rental options is the western part of Lakewood, especially closer to Green Mountain. With either you would have great access to outdoor activities and the mountains. As long as you don't try to get downtown during rush hour you'll be 20 minutes away from all the sports teams and the nightlife there.
