I'm trying to get the hang of one at a time. I have a list for Rite Aid but haven't gotten to Walgreens yet. Still trying to get the hang of CVS. Walgreens to me aren't as abundant.
I must say that i thought that i was good with coupons, but WOW!! you guys have me beat. Great tips!!! I love when shopping at HT and the manager has to come turn the register key because you have saved too much money. Ahhh SUCCESS!
I went to Bloom today and had two coupons that had DO NOT DOUBLE OR TRIPLE very large at the top. The cashier didn't know what to do and yelled over to another, "What am I supposed to do with these coupons that say do not triple?" The cashier yelled back, "Just manually enter the amount." I immediately told her that most store scan them because they usually double or triple anyway, but you could tell she didn't want to. I told her to just remove those items from my order because I didn't want them unless I could use the coupon as a triple. A supervisor came over and said, "Just go ahead and try scanning it. Let's see what happens." You know what? They both tripled! Always watch what the cashiers are doing and be persistent if you think you're getting the short end of the stick! And watch that your doubles and triples start with a 5.
Snags happen all the time in the struggle for savings with coupons. Lot's of rules and regulations to keep you from using them but if you work your way around that it's very rewarding.
What great tips! I have a couple questions though, I'm new to coupons and new to the grocery stores around here.
Harris Teeter told me they only double coupons up to a total value of $1. Meaning, if you have a $.50 coupon they will take a $1 off, but if you have a $1 coupon that's all you get. Is that true?
How do you know when they have double/triple coupon days?
Can you use multiple coupons for the same item? For example, I always get Campbells Soup coupons from the HT register printout at the end, next time I go can I use that AND the coupon from the paper? Also, if you buy multiple copies of the paper can you use the same coupon from each at the same time?
My biggest problem is finding coupons for the kind of things I want/am trying to eat. It seems like a lot of the coupons are for the less healthy, more expensive snacks and processed stuff not for staples or meat. Also, I signed up at a bunch of coupon websites but most are for prescription drugs, services, baby stuff, etc. that I don't use, not groceries, and my inbox is swamped!
