Hey all,

I'm a young incoming law student moving into lower University Park by SMU. Where is the nightlife? I know its a common question on the forums, but everyone just says Uptown Dallas or Deep Ellum and each covers a relatively large area. I guess what I'm asking for help finding is a "bar avenue" of sorts. In D.C. we have M Street, Foggy Bottom and Adams Morgan each of which has tons of bars and clubs within easy (5 mins MAX) walking distance. Where I went to college, the U of Arizona, we had 4th Avenue which had maybe 9 great bars on the same street that was about 3/4 of a mile long. Whenever I was up in PHX I used to frequent Mill Ave which had maybe 14 bars ranging from a Margaritaville to a Brewhouse within a mile. Anything like this in Dallas? Uptown is a good start, but I'd like to hear something more specific... Like a street with lots of bars on it haha. Thanks in advance! Sorry about the xxl post length.

Well I'm not gay heh (Oaklawn recommendation) but thanks all for the help. I'll definitely drop down to those places pretty soon. Hopefully some friends from PHX will be impressed when they visit... Irregardless of people's impressions of Washington DC, Tucson and PHX Dallas is pretty great nightlife-wise right? I know it's a whole other question but once again, as a new transplant I'd like to be reassured! Thanks guys.

If you like clubs, its the best in Texas.

Austin has a better bar scene, but Dallas has the best club scene.

Henderson and Lower Greenville - perfect for SMU - would be better to live around there, just east of Central in M-Streets, Vickery Place, Cochran Heights, Belmont area apartments -or even farther north in apartments off E. University or Lover's, Caruth Haven and Southwestern. More homes, duplexes, 4-6-8 plexes between Greenville and Henderson, also newer townhomes.
