Hello All!
I will be in town during the last week of January to scope out your city for possible relocation and wanted to know where I can go for a great night out. I'm arriving on a Saturday and leaving the following Wednesday. A bar or lounge that local 29-33 year-olds hang out ... I understand that I'll be in your city during "work nights" but I would think that happy hour happens every day of the week (!) Thanks for all your suggestions!

There are plenty of places all over Dallas, but the largest concentrations will be in Uptown, Downtown, Lower Greenville Ave. and Deep Ellum/Exposition. All of these areas are in the center of Dallas. Don't know what type of vibe you are looking for, but whatever it is I'm sure you can find it here. There are two alternative newspapers that come out every Thursday and list bars, happy hours and events, so I recommend finding those when you arrive or checking them out online: www.dallasobserver.com and QuickDFW Blog | QuickDFW.com. You could also check the weekend guide that comes out every Friday in the Dallas Morning News: www.guidelive.com.

No idea what you like, but these are some of my favorite places now:

Park, Barcadia, Victor Tango's & Old Monk on Henderson Ave
Slip Inn- fun late night dance place, but only for Fri or Sat nights
Lemon Bar- West Village
Cosmo's in Lakewood
Lee Harvey's in the Cedars (better in warm weather)
Idle Rich, Black Friar- McKinney Ave
TABC or Londoner in State-Thomas
Gingerman or Stoneleigh P in Uptown

Something more upscale would be Lotus on McKinney or Dragonfly at Hotel Zaza or the Rattlesnake Bar at the Ritz.

Great ideas.

Is Cuba Libre still around?

I also like Maguires.

Depending on the night and the crowd Quarter Bar is a good time.

Thanks so much! Funny, Barcadia is one of the bars that I'm really curious about and you listed it, must be a good time there!
