This year will break the record of total days over 100.

Man it is hot...

I just meant that I'd prefer -4 over the furnace we're in now. And it's winter there, so it's not going to get much colder. But yeah, 50's would be almost perfect.

Don't rush through the fall. That just means less time until the next summer.

Let's see what 'normal' people continue to do during this heat wave...

Football practice (all sorts of outdoor children's sports practice)
Re-roofing
Landscaping
Mowing / trimming
Irrigation installation / repair
Concrete work
Street & highway maintenance
Playing golf
Jogging
Bicycling
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.
So on, and so forth...

If you are old, out-of-shape, fat, or red-headed then just stay inside and complain. Otherwise go about your business, have fun and get a nice tan. Wear light colored and lose fitting clothing, stay hydrated, and if possible stay out of the direct sun.

Or if you just like to b(tch and complain all the time, then no doubt you'll look for something else to whine about after the heat wave passes.
Um....what the hell? I was quoting a movie and trying to be funny. This heat doesn't really bother me; I'm not fat or out of shape. The only things that bother me about this heat wave/drought are my electric bills and my lawn going brown due to watering restrictions.

People ... This heat wave is serious. It's killing people, it's killing kids, and it's brutal. I surely wouldn't make light of it. True, with all the people in the area, the deaths are minimal but it still caused them to lose they're lives. Any parent who would allow a child to practice in this heat needs to have his/her head examined. It's just too risky and not worth a silly sport. Of course, every year there are heat-related deaths and, of course, not only in Texas.

Today will mark the 40th consecutive day of 100-plus-degree weather. If the triple-digit heat continues, Friday will mark the 42nd day at or above 100 degrees and that would tie the record set in 1980. If Saturday reaches triple-digits it will break the old record. The 5-day weather forecast shows no relief in sight, which could extend a new record multiple days beyond the old 'much talked about and remembered' 42 day record set in 1980.

We are so close...

The prediction for Friday is 99, so we may fall a day short. As I said before, I'll be pissed off if we miss because because of one day being one degree short, especially the day that would tie the record.
