In a perfect world, everyone would do this. This particular storm was incredibly fast moving and had large variances in hail sizes. When it hit my area, it was only pea to marble sized but by the time it got to Wylie, it was huge. My husband got caught driving home from Denton in it but luckily there is no damage. On his particular route, there are no covered garages for him to pull in. There are a handful of gas stations and those were already packed by the time he could even consider pulling over. It's not like you can sit in a bank drive-thru line for 10 minutes just because it looks like it's going to hail. Also, if you're on the highway during rush hour, you probably can't just hop off and find shelter immediately.

If you can get to one, sure, that's a great plan.

Live here long enough and you'll get caught out too. Hopefully not in a hail storm or tornado. Or a flash flood.

When I lived in the Village, I didn't have covered parking so I would just watch the weather radar on TV. This was even before smartphones. So when it was getting close, I just drove over to Compass Bank at Caruth and Central and parked in their garage. Now with weather apps on smartphones, the radar goes where ever I go.

Thanks
I don't see the insurance adjuster till Sunday, but reports I'm getting from nieghbors is that they are all being nice right now, no low balling, penny pinching, nothing. Fingers crossed it stays that way because we've got a lot to fix. Roof Windows water damage to carpet and walls fence... I could go on. I need a drink.
