So far, it hasn't been that bad considering the past few summers we've had. Looking at the National Weather Service forecast, the temps are going to hover around 100 for most of this week with a slight cool-down during the weekend.

July 25 through August 17 is the hottest time of the year in DFW with an average high temperature of 97.

I don't make a secret of the fact that I don't like DFW and would love to move, but my feet get especially itchy this time of year. Last night was miserable...every time I went out on the patio I was almost panting from the heat and humidity, it was really oppressive. I have fans on my patio and they did nothing.

Last two days have been terrible. At 5 in the evening I started my car when coming back from the office, the car thermometer showed 40C. Today it showed 39C.

Where is Santa when you need him!!

Install a patio or fan mister system.

I bought a low pressure patio misting system from Home Depo a few years back for around $50-100. You can also find low pressure fan misting kits to attach to non ceiling fans aound $200...heck, if you're crafty, you could probably build one $50. High pressure system produce a more fine mist but are a bit pricey, usually $1,000-1,300 but again, if you're crafty, you could probably build one for a few hundred bucks.
