I went to Calloway's Nursery and they are offering free soil testing in January and February. I am really excited to learn what I need to add to amend my soil so I have the best garden I've ever had. It takes about three weeks to get your results back. I thought I would share this free information with all of you.

If your interested in having a great yard you might try and find when and where a Texas Master Gardener will be giving a talk. Those going thru the program have to do so many for free in order to obtain the title of "Master Gardener".

I think this is interesting. My sister-in-law gardens with the Coppell Community Garden and in her backyard in Coppell. Her yard was so much heavy clay she finally bought a bunch of organic compost from Plano. She and my brother tilled some into the soil and created deep beds by piling the rest on top. I was just there for the holidays and they already have stands of beets, lettuce, cabbage, chard. The frost was taking some toll on those, but she was getting great results after years of trying to garden in that heavy clay. Good luck to you.
