So, I would be working very near The Shops at Legacy.

I didn't think of how much I would be spend on tolls a month. Yikes!

I really appreciate all of the amazing feedback! Tough decision...

Actually, I worked nightshift downtown, so I was driving TO Plano at around the same time most dayshift employees were trying to get to work. So in my scenario, it was not that much different.

I've decided that a shorter commute is more ideal for me at this time. So, I'm looking at Addison. Having trouble finding spaces that I feel would be a good fit for me.

I generally like loft spaces. But if I can get hardwood floors (at least in the living area) and a unique space, reasonably priced ($1000 max), then I would be happy. Again, not very familiar with this area so if you can make any suggestions I would appreciate it very much.

Look in Addison Circle, right off the tollway...most city-like apartments in the area....The Allegro, Post Addison Circle, 15777 Quorom are the complexes right there.

Train (DART) works great.

I do sort of the reverse of you when going to work in downtown Dallas.

The Red and Orange Lines between Dallas and Parker Road (north-most stop in Plano) are pretty civilized.

There are city apartments I walk by down there right by the Akard Station in Downtown Dallas. Mockingbird/SMU area seems popular with the hipsters, as well.

Where in Plano do you need to go? There is a Plano Downtown Station stop, as well.

I've added the route from Grapevine Mills Mall area taking 121 all the way to Hall-Johnson and head west. Somewhat easier and it eliminates taking 26 south. How they coordinated all that construction to take place at the same time is really amazing. 121 and 114 is tricky if you are unsure of the roads. It's fast and winds quite a bit. I've seen many accidents along the way through there. One really has to pay attention all through the construction.

Also, I've seen Bellisimo's--the BYOB sign in the window caught my eye first! Haven't been in there yet, but it on my list.

Default Commute: N O'Connor Irving to Dallas Downtown

Hi,

I just got accepted for a job at Baylor Healthcare at Bryan Street, Dallas for a short term project of about 2 months. I just moved around here and have no idea about the public transportation system. I had a look around at the DART website and found the only way that I can commute there is to take a bus then change two trains! That should take me around 2 hours of travel everyday! Do any Dallas City experts here have a way around the problem? Maybe a suggestion on the best way to get from N O' Connor to Baylor Healthcare? I would really appreciate the help!

Thanks!

Public transportation is not one of Dallas' strong suits. It is adequate for certain areas of town, but there are a lot of areas that simply are not serviced, or not serviced well.

Realistically, as far apart as everything is in TX, do yourself a favor and find a cheap car to make the commute.

Really, some sort of car is your best bet, unless you can move closer to Baylor?

While DART leaves a lot to be desired, this commute using DART isn't so bad. You want to take route 202 from the North Irving station. That bus takes you to the West End, this segment of the route takes about 20 minutes. From the West End take the train to St.Paul station, that should only take less than 5 minutes. To get to the North Irving Transit Center you can catch either routes 305 or 507 which run the full length of North O'Conner.

The North Irving station is located at 5601 Riverside Dr
Irving, TX 75039
