Moving to Plano on Friday...I am wondering what cable internet provider to go with. My apartment complex recommended Verizon because of the fiber optic cables. What is the going rate for internet and cable? In Austin, I was paying under $100 for internet, premium cable, and DVR. Maybe I just lucked out on some kind of special, but it seems to a little more pricey in Plano. What do you think of Verizon and Time Warner?

Here's how I rank them:

1.) Verizon
2.) Verizon
3.) Verizon
4.) Verizon
5.) Verizon
6.) Verizon
7.) Verizon
8.) Antenna on the roof of my house
9.) Go without TV, phone or internet
....
....
When hell freezes over.) Time Warner

I think that sums it up for me. I get premium cable, HDTV with a DVR, phone with caller ID, etc, and high speed internet for a little over $100/month.

Default Re:

Verizon is hands-down your best (really, your only) choice for Internet access.

They run some kind of "triple play" offer for Internet, FIOS TV, and phone service.

I don't know what the pricing is for that - I have DirecTV for TV, because of the NFL package.

I second this.

When we got rid of Time Warner we had to physically take our cable boxes and return them. I was in a LONG LINE of others just like me turning them in. I don't know of anyone that still uses Time Warner.
