Hi folks!

DH is a native Texan, east Dallas to be exact. We used to live in Mesquite, but since moved back to my home, California. Getting tired of the poor schools, high prices, and high crime. Also, I'm not too pleased that my once pleasant small town is 95% illegal alien now. Take that as you wish.

So, this brings us back to the Dallas area. DH likes Flower Mound, and I've heard great things about Lewisville. We're a young family wanting to steer away from bad crime and the fast city-life for a slower, tight-knit neighborhood which features good schools. We don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a home, either. We're pretty modest, but not excessively. I also enjoy a variety of shopping and restaurants nearby. A good park or two is definitely on the list.

So, which area would YOU choose? I appreciate all of your help! We'll be visiting soon and would like to have a list of places/neighborhoods to check out.

My brother lives right on the border of Lewisville and Flower Mound. If given a choice I would choose Flower Mound. Infact I would say Flower Mound and Coppell would be a better comparision than Lewisville. Lewisville is a decent place to raise a family but Flower Mound is a step above.

Parts of Lewisville are rough, but others are nice. I belive Flower Mound has the better schools. There are tons of smaller cities and 'burbs around that area, it really depends on what your budget is and what type of commute you are looking at.

Also, if you are looking in that area, check out Castle Hills - https://www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...ewisville.html.

Where will you and DH be working? Flower Mound is a nice community but it can be difficult to get in/out of due to traffic and few roads.

they are pretty much the same place, you go through Lewisville to get to FLower Mound, Lewisville has the mall , and as has been said, FLower Mound can be a little harder to get too but does have some nicer areas, either way both decent area.

Look at Coppell as well.

Where is work? that might take alot of places off the search.
And price??
Colleyville/Grapevine are very good as well but commute could be not so good.

School wise Flowermound seems to get better reeview etc...than lewisville

If I were choosing between those two only I would go with Flower Mound. Good schools and small town feel, but getting in and out as everyone has mentioned could be a problem. Lewisville is a much larger city with lots of variety and less of that small knit feel. Other "small town burbs" with good schools would include Coppell, Grapevine, Colleyville. All depends on where you will be commuting to.

Depends on the price you want to pay for a home. Lewisville is more in the $130-220K price range where Flower Mound is mostly higher in the $200 and up (way up) range.
