Hi:

I noticed there is a somewhat related thread, that applied to my situation too, with some good recommendations posted.

https://www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...ghborhood.html

Wanted to see if anyone could recommend Lewisville/Flower Mound under similar criteria for a young family (good schools, decent sized Keralite community, good neighborhoods, near to daily shopping). I've heard that there are several exemplary schools in the Lewisville ISD but also a lesser # that weren't rated exemplary. My target price range is ~$550K.

Thanks in advance.

By Keralite I assume you mean the neighborhood has a good sized Indian population?

I live in Castle Hills in Lewisville and I believe it would meet your criteria. Have you looked there yet?

Hi: Thanks. yes, some of the real estate searches did show listings in the Castle Hills sub division. they definitely are on our list though we noticed that the lot sizes were less than .3 acre and we were hoping to find something .3ac or larger for the lot size.

Also, i know it's sometimes a little hard to take school ratings solely at face value, but since good schools are a priority, am a little cautious re: the fact that Independence and Killian may not be rated exemplary.

(while we'd be open to good areas with a good sized Indian population we were also more interested in areas with a decent # of Keralite/Malayalee residents specifically if feasible.)

Thanks again for the recommendation!

Check out West end of Flower Mound. The schools are the best in LISD (ALL rated exemplary and FMHS consistently is the top high school in LISD) and there are lots of homes on acreage out there. Wellington also has a large Indian community--the Wichita Chase neighborhood has large lots as well.

Specifically look off McKamy Creek Road, Wichita Trail, and all of the neighborhoods off 1171/Main Street west of 2499. (High Road, Shiloh, etc.) In general, I'd stay west of 2499 for what you are looking for, too. Keep in mind that homes north of 1171 are zoned to Marcus high school--still excellent, but many still prefer Flower Mound High School.

This realtor tends to list/sell a lot of the homes in your price range in Flower Mound--might have luck with them. Went to school with their son back in high school.

Sorry I cant be specific. I know India and Sri Lanka are huge nations with very different and diverse groups/cultures--I hate to lump them all under "Indian"

Wellington is a great neighborhood. There are some older neighborhoods bordering it that have larger lots. Wellington lots are between .16 up to about .35 acres. Bridlewood is a nice neigborhood as well although I like Wellington a bit more. Marcus VS Flower Mound HS is a healthy debate. We just bought a house zoned to Marcus. Both are very very good high schools and I dont think you will go wrong by picking either one.

Our in-laws live in Wellington and they love it. It seems to me there are some Indians there, but I don't know how many. There are tons of Indians in CH. One of the model homes in the North part of the neighborhood has books about India on the coffee table, so clearly they are marketing to Asians.
