I found some nice condos, right off of I30, under 40K. They are very close to Lake Hubbard. Would this be commuter hell to downtown? Is the lake nice? These condos are in the Dallas County portion; is that good or bad? How are the Garland Schools?

Best Regards,
El General

What side of I30?
North side is better than the south side of I30 although w/ the new developments going on w/ the new Bass Pro Shop hopefully it gets cleaned up.

Commute to downtown Dallas w/ a straight shot on I30 is easy. I30 does not get as backed up as 75, 635 or DNT. 30 moves along pretty good and has an HOV lane if you should carpool.

Lake is nice and that area actually has some nice lake side parks and boat ramps. New development along the lakeshore w/ Bass Pro and many restaurants that have docks. Good lake to be on and not as crowded as Lake Lewisville.

Dallas County is fine. Unless you go on up to Rockwall everything in that area is Dallas County.

Schools are good. The GISD has several academies for specialized instruction be it gifted & talented, math, science, arts, etc. It is "freedom of choice" meaning you can pick a school other than your "neighborhood school" and try to get into it. Those that reside in the "neighborhood" zone get first dibs and any open spots can be filled w/ those wishing to attend there. They won't give transportation if you do elect to attend a school outside of your zone though.

Maybe someone should fill in El General on the history of those condos...

This could be a start: https://www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...s-garland.html

lol, I think we had someone else ask about those condos a few months ago.

I grew up across the lake from those condos. At the time I was too young to really understand what was going on, other than some guy was going to jail.

Some of those condos sat empty for years and years.

I believe someone who lives there posted about it as well, and they were having a very bad experience.

If you choose to live at Lake Ray Hubbard, you'll be picking a great lake with some great scenery. I think it's a win-win situation for you.

What about Hill Point? Is it the same bunch of crooks? I saw a nice unit in there for under 40K.

I'm not familiar w/ that name. Where is it located? Does it say who the property management company is? Or anything?

I though all of the condos/apartments that Faulkner was involved in over there were repo'd back in the 80's and someone else owns them. May be all different individuals/companies now. I don't believe he has much to do w/ any of that anymore. I could find out though thru connections.

It's on Marvin Loving Dr. A nice looking building, close to I-30 and the lake.
