I'm moving to South Garland area near Duck Creek and Oates. I noticed a huge Dart parking lot/station on the right side of Duck Creek while driving towards Broadway by the Interstate. It has a sign that says Lake Ray Hubbard I think. I'm trying to figure out if that offers rail service or is just bus service. I went to the Dart site but I don't see anything in that location.
My job is located right next to Walnut Hill stop near the hospital and I would like to use the rail to commute, if at all possible.

Thanks

That's a park and ride bus station. You can take that to the train, though.

> Use the System Map for the entire system or Section D for the portion with Garland. The full system map will show you the December 2012 extension to Rowlett

Thanks...someone had told me there was a rail station there, hence the confusion. I guess the closest rail stop is in downtown garland. If I'm gonna get in my car and drive that far, I may as well drive to work.
The job is located across the street from Presbytere<sp?> hospital right near Walnut Hill station. Any idea on commute time around 7am from Centerville and Duck Creek?

I did the drive last Wed around 10am. I hopped on 635 from NW Hwy and got off a few exits later. Went up Greenville I think. Didn't seem bad at all. I was just wondering how much traffic is around 7am.
I realize the downtown Garland station is closer, but its not that close to where I'm living. I'd also have to transfer at Mockingbird if I'm reading the map right, to get to Walnut Hill. Kind of a hassle if the drive to work isn't going to be hell on wheels, which is doesn't appear to be. I think its like 9 miles total one way. If that was a rail station on Duck Creek, that would have been very convenient. Thanks for all of the info!

There's no way that rail will ever be extended to extreme northern and southern parts of the various member city suburbs. Way too expensive and not enough demand. The idea is to extend service to the middle part of each city or downtown area, which goes along with various city's ideas that revitalization of the old downtown areas is the coming trend. That's right in some cases but way wrong in most. Either way, giving rail access to the middle of town makes it most convenient to all parts of the city. And that's where the existing rail lines tend to be, making it the only feasible alternative when acquiring right-of-way for the rail lines.

In other words, take the bus, move, or tough it and drive downtown.

Take Duck Creek to Kingsley. Kingsley turns into Walnut Hill and takes you straight to Presbyterian. No need to get in highway traffic.

I think I'll "tough" it out lol....I think I can drive to work quicker than driving to rail station, then transferring trains. Bus isn't an option. They sit in the same traffic as I would.
No worries, I was just asking b/c someone said that was a station. It's not. No big deal. I have a nice car and my job is not far. Maybe if I had a longer commute, i'd consider rail.
