My husband is very interested in taking Dart Rail to work if we move to Richardson. Does anyone have experience riding the rail? If so, is it a good way to get to and from downtown on a daily basis?
Thanks!

I've ridden it different times when I was there for vacation and the majority of the ones who ride it seem to be younger. Not a whole bunch of middle age or older folks.

If your schedule coincides with the DART schedule, you should be ok. But make sure you're on time because it seems to leave pretty quickly. The fare is sure reasonable, you can't beat that.

the DART trains run about every 5 minutes during rush hour and they tend to be packed.

here's a news 8 video on the recent increase in ridership

I rode it to downtown from a Richardson station for about a year. Extremely reliable; never even considered driving. It took me 35 minutes from Arapaho to the West End. Driving during rush hour would have probably taken 45 minutes. Even if I didn't save time, it's worth the reduced stress.

I know someone (middle-aged male) that took the DART train from the station at 190&75 to the CityPlace area daily and enjoyed it.

I've taken it a few times w/ the kids to the zoo. Pretty quick and easy to navigate. Some of the local preschools and daycares use it for field trips to the zoo. For Stars and Mavericks games it is usually packed.

If Dallas' Metro is called DART. Is Fort Worth's, "FART?"

Default Dart

My husband used DART bus for years to get downtown. Then rail when it became available. He loved it.

My co-workers and I are definitely amateurs when it comes to downtown city life. However, our job takes us to conferences that require us to stay in downtown hotels. This usually leaves us limited access to our vehicles. We rely on the DART rail for all of our transportation and we feel comfortable doing so. Stick a few country bumpkins in the city and the DART rail is the only way to go.

I use DART rail every day to get to my job on Central from my place Downtown (reverse commute). It's fast, (mostly) reliable, cheap, and convenient for most places I need to go. I always catch the same trains and always get to my destination at the same time. It will be nice when the expansions to DFW Airport, Carrollton, and Fair Park are completed in a few years. Living near a rail station is a real convenience.

I ride DART daily to and from my work downtown and I highly recommend it. It's safe, clean, reliable, and inexpensive transportation. Just another one of the things that makes Dallas such a great place to live.
