Hello,
I am new to Dallas, and have a question about rush hour traffics in Dallas.
I will have to drive from uptown to downtown area: it's very close to I-30 and dallas farmer's market place, so it's like the south of downtown.

According to the google map, it only take 8 mins from my place to the office. However, I have never been there during the rush hour in the morning.

I am debating whether I should take the central pkwy (75) then I-30 io avoid the hwy. And I would also like to know how bad the traffic gets during the rush hour, specifically 8-9 am.

I hope you guys can help out.

Thanks.

I think you can cut through on surface streets and be door-to-desk in about 10 minutes.

I wouldn't even bother with 75 or 30. Just take Routh or Pearl thru the east edge of downtown.

No, you don't want to get on the highway. You could easily walk from uptown to downtown. The distance is so short that you're not going to hit any kind of "rush hour", you'll be taking the local streets.

Stay off the highway in Dallas as much as possible - especially in the downtown area. Uptown is so close to downtown TXGolfer could hit a golf ball from one to the other.

You'll want to snake through from Uptown using Harwood or Pearl - they both curve and fork off, it might take you a couple of tries to get it right, but it would be the best route.

As others have suggested, avoid taking highways. Depending on where you are in uptown, take Routh southbound, which turns into Good Latimer. It'll only take you 10 minutes depending on where you are in uptown.
