That is a good point and worth throwing my 2 cents in on. As a localMod cut of Lucas (Lovejoy ISD) I am very familiar with the zoning there. There is no zoning which would allow multi-family in Lucas. I'm not 100% sure about the parts of fairview which are in Lovejoy ISD but I don't think so. I'll be looking into that. P.S. Who do you fly for? My husband is a SWA 737 guy

Ahearn Properties? It's probably against the TOS to use CD Forum for advertising your business. Moderators?

Default LoveJoy Student

Hello, I am a 9th grader at lovejoy high school, i came from frisco in 2nd grade, and its so much better here. I am in 7 PreAP classes and 1 AP. I am a Gifted and Talented Student, along with being a heavily tech oriented student.
As a student in the advanced program, I will say that if your student is making under a 95 in their current classes, or is being challenged where they are, i would not recommend moving. This school is a school for the advanced student, and any students here now should not be here.
I am looking to attend TAMS and later MIT, and this is a great school for high shooters, otherwise your child will most likely be overwhelmed.

I guess AP and Pre-AP classes have changed quite a bit since I was in HS. Seems like basic grammar and spelling would have been addressed by this point.

If you think you are doing well, then you are not being pushed very hard.

Hey y'all, I currently attend Jesuit and will graduate in May. I made an account just to reply to this message because I thought it was pretty hilarious. Students who can't make 95's in elementary school classes are totally fine. Quite frequently, in my elementary education, I made 90-94's. I turned out absolutely fine, and will graduate near the top of my class at Jesuit and be attending a Top 20 Uni in the fall. HP and Southlake, the two "elite" academic public schools in the metroplex, see kids with high B's to low A's succeed at their schools all the time. Lovejoy is not on the same caliber as those two, so what makes you think that a similar student can't handle Lovejoy?

Furthermore, Lovejoy's system of all Pre-AP's and AP's is horrendous. This makes virtually no distinction between regular classes and honor classes, so the kids who aren't really into school are mixed with the kids who care a lot about their education. For me, the whole reason to take AP's is to make sure I am immersed in a competitive, motivated environment. Lovejoy's system defeats this entirely.

In my opinion, pushing kids with diffrent capabilities into AP/IB courses is bad for most of them, some get overwhelmed and others get underwhelmed because classes move at slower pace and lower level.

Interesting data-set here, listing the school districts, their Student Achievement Index and the number of campuses broken down by score decile.

DFW Best School Districts | 2013 Dallas Fort Worth School Districts Rankings, TEA Ratings

It gives some interesting context to this debate.

Unfortunately, like a lot of debates in life, there are good points being made here, but not much to back up the assertions (in either direction) - at least not conclusively so for an outside observer.

The take away is that maybe look at more than the ratings and into the SAT, etc.

Is there a link that has that kind of breakdown by school, or are we only left with what the ISDs provide?

This link may help.

Texas Public School Performance School District Rank

Once you click on a district you can break down the individual schools (there is a tab) and the campuses have a hyperlink to their stats.

I live in Lovejoy and love it. It is not perfect, but no place is... If Lovejoy wasn't performing then why are we loosing some great teachers to HP and SLC. I completely understand why coaches leave, however we have lost a few teachers that don't coach. These teachers were contacted by other districts. They were not looking at the time.

Also the TEA breaks down some stats.

2013 Accountability Rating System

and just for good measure, here is U.S. News National Rankings.

Best High Schools Rankings | Top High Schools | US News

It is the same posters on here attempting to bash Lovejoy. They are in every thread that even mentions Lovejoy. As far as I can tell only one of them lives, or lived, there... and yet they are all SME's.
