I don't think Dallas wants any tourists here. They just closed the Chase Tower skylobby to the public. There isn't anywhere in Downtown with a good view anymore.

Is the reunion tower open to the public these days or is it still closed?

Thanks!

The observation deck is still closed. At this rate, it may never open. What a disservice to the residents and tourists in this city...

The observation deck in the JH in Chicago is sweet. You pay $15 bucks and you can stay all day if you like. They have a deli with decent stuff - nothing fancy - and some of the best coffee ever. People who live in CHI can choose an annual membership to use it like a favorite local cafe with the best ever. Great place to just sit around and wifi. I stop in there frequently.

It would be nice to do that with Reunion Tower too. Wolfgang's is great, but he'll eat your whole paycheck. Dinner was $350 for a family of four.

Yeah, I don't really feel like I should have to pay almost $100 just to be able to see Dallas from up high. I went in the Sears Tower when I was in Chicago which I hear is a lot of hassle compared to the John Hancock Building but it still beats what we have here.

Assuming Wolfgang's restaurant still has its happy hour, you don't have to pay $100 to see the view. I haven't done it awhile but it used to be 5-7 p.m. Mon-Thu, you could go up there and order a (relatively) cheap appetizer or drink and get the same view the diners paying $100 were getting. Granted, it's not as good as free but it's hardly an arm and a leg.

There's no comparison between the skylines, but i must say the Reunion tower is well placed for about the best skyline view one could get of Dallas.

Here's a better shot from John Hancock.
