My husband is taking a job in Bedford in January. We are moving from Atlanta, GA. He used to live in Greenville and I have always liked the Rockwall area. Is it too far of a commute for him to make thru town?

In ruch hour traffic, that commute would be brutal. I'm thinking he would be looking at 1.5 hours each way.

He definately will not be interested in that! That is what I was afraid of. Are you familiar with the Bedford side of town?

Yes, dear Lord, that is WAAAY too far. Think 3+ hours in a car every day. You have to cut straight through the metroplex on 3-4 very busy highways.

There are great suburbs on the Fort Worth side of the metroplex that would be an easier commute to Bedford and even still give you the "less populated, lakeside living" benefits that Rockwall offers.

Post on the FW board, but do check out Colleyville, Grapevine, Southlake, Keller, and possibly Mansfield (though that commute may be too far). Anything tucked on the southeast side of Lake Grapevine are great suburbs & pretty close to Bedford (20 min or so).

Bedford itself is nice, and so is Grapevine. NE Tarrant is really a good place to live. DH and I have been here for 8 years and we love it. (And FWIW, my parents live just outside of Rockwall!)

I'm only somewhat familiar with that area. You might try the Fort Worth forum. There are many great places to live that are closer to Bedford. Even Bedford itself has great neighborhoods.

I agree with everyone. Rockwall would be over an hour in rush hour. I would add Las Colinas and Coppell to the areas that have been suggested too. Bedford itself has really nice neighborhoods too.

just check a map--Rockwall is all the way across Dallas from Bedford--Google says it is an hour's commute so to me--that means add 10 min for every half hour at least--that would be hour +20 --
