Hi again!

So far Rockwall is on the tops of my lists for areas to rent in when we arrive in TX, it just seems nice and simple and like what we are leaving here in MI.

DH will be working in Garland, looking on Yahoo Maps it looks like its in the 635 & Garland Ave area...

Any opinions on the commute?

Great choice. We love it out here. Depending where in Garland he will be working, it could be 10 to 25 minutes to Garland from Rockwall.

Depending on where in Rockwall and which way you go and how fast you drive Rockwall to 635/Garland Ave is going to be 15 minutes (speeding and no traffic) to 30 minutes (hard to get out of neighborhood in Rockwall - lots of lights and school zones - heavy traffic - construction - wrecks - bad weather all playing a part in the longer commute).

It would take about 15-20 minutes on average. You can take I-30 to 635 or go down Lakeview. Also, 190 is being expanded all the way to I-30 and will open up in a couple of years, so that will be a good route also when it opens up.

There's 2 ways to go. One is to take 75 South to 190(George Bush Turnpike) and go East until you hit Lakeview Pkwy(66). Go east on it and it will take you right into Rockwall. This route will take about 40 minutes and keep in mind that 190 is a toll road.

The other way to go is to take 75 South to 635 and go east. Once you get on 635, it will be a breeze as the majority of traffic will be heading west bound. Then when you hit I-30, go east on it and it will take you right to Rockwall. This route will take about 45 minutes, but there is no tolls.

OR go the backroads. Take 544 to Wylie and then up 78 towards Lavon. Take 205 off of 78 and that leads right into downtown Rockwall and on over to I-30. If you go this way on your back stop at the BBQ place on the corner of 78 & 205. Good food and rated one of the top 50 BBQ places in the state.

You can take the 190 access road all the way from Hwy 75 to where it ends in Garland then take Rowlett Rd to Hwy 66. Go East on Hwy 66 until you reach Rockwall. That is the easiest and shortest cheap way without occurring tolls.
