Good morning! Besides not having a good eating day yesterday, which I'm going to try not to beat myself up over, a good week overall. My weight loss is still at 8 lbs and I really need another 8 to come off ideally. NCN, I just read your post about Myrtle Beach. I just text my friend who has a house there and waiting for a reply. She has had a rough few weeks, losing her mother, hubby has prostate cancer, I do hope this has not effected her also. We had a fun time yesterday on our field trip. We broke up into 3 different groups with 3 different, very entertaining fire rangers and learned quite a bit about different types of trees, forest animals, along with where The Tarheels originated from. I had no idea NCN. Coffee with sugar in the raw with soymilk so far......happy Friday everyone! Jeannie

Good Friday morning all and am I glad this week has come to an end.

Jeannie and NCN been watching that carefully as that is one of my favorite places. Our son lived there for quite a few years. Prayers to all down there.

Last night I took leftover linguine and shrimp scampi out of the freezer-not as good as 1st time. Ate a little-more salad than food tho.

We went out to breakfast yesterday after Mr. L's early doc appt and I had a South of the Border omelet and only could eat a third.

Lunch was an avocado as they say they are full of iron.

This morning probably back to yog/fruit and iron supplements!!!!

Happy Fri. all.

Good morning Jeannie, Lacey, Izzy, Diana, and Lisa.
Jeannie, I can really get bent out of shape when a sports announcer shortens Tar Heels to the Heels. A heel is not a good thing, but a tar heel is someone who sticks like glue and doesn't let anyone down. Our state has always supported any war the USA or the South has been fighting in and if I remembered my history, I could tell you which wars we sent more troops to than any other state. We were the last state to secede from the Union and we were one of the last states to come back in. We don't do anything fast here! And for us the Civil War was about states rights. We didn't have enough slaves to care if they were freed. My ancestors didn't own any slaves. They were the "poor folks who lived in the mountains and even the slaves felt sorry for." That came straight out of the history books. We used to laugh about that in school.

When I was working one day, I was straightening the political science section when I came upon a book that told a little about the political history of each state. It called North Carolina a valley of humility between two mountains of conceit; Virginia and South Carolina who had more plantations where North Carolina was more small farms. And then you did have the tar, pitch and terpentine. Horrible stuff to work in. When one cuts down a pine tree, it can be used for making lumber, but people come to the forest and take the pine bark off before the sawmillers start on it. Did you see that being done? The lumber men would just give that to the person willing to work in the sticky stuff. I don't think a person working in it on a daily basis ever got all of it off. They had to scrub their skin raw. Well enough history! Glad you enjoyed your day. Hope Myrtle Beach is still there when we go next time.

Coffee and milk and ready to have another one.
banana

NCN love that-please share more.

Went out for lunch and can't eat the way I used to-had a cup of turkey noodle soup and could only eat 1/2 burger melt.

Ladies, what you are getting from me is history as I remember it. That is not a reliable source for a term paper. Glad you enjoyed it.

We had a rule in the library that you never told anyone the answer. We had to show it to them in a book or on the computer. Good idea. I think everybody remembers the way they want to. One of the things I learned is that history is as it is recorded and may not be exactly that way.

I have found at least three different answers to the square miles in our state. I think that is why students are asked to give their source for information in a paper.
