Was just thinking that this afternoon reminds me of storms in FL. Not CT

1.53" at Brainard since 4:30 PM. It's 1.86" when you add overnight before that. Willow Brook (New Britain/Berlin) must be over the area I mentioned by now.

3.54" here. It was a lightning show last night. 1/4 of the time it seemed like broad daylight. Got a video, although it wasn't at the "peak" of the show.

3.57" here.

Whats funny is that it wasn't even Hot or Humid yesterday. Something you expect when its like 80s/90s and super humid.. 5-6 hours of Lightning, Thunder, and multiple embedded torrential rains came when temps were in the 60s/low 70s.

Fronts this year have been slow to move and crashing into the cooler maritime air so I assume that's one effect giving the Boomers and copius amounts of rain.. The other is that there's been extra instability in the area creating extra lift.

Over 15 inches of rain in last 4 weeks in my backyard.

Sounds like a crapshoot outside. On the bus and the radio is on... Lots of blocked roads / routes getting reported. The constant lightning from 4:30 PM onwards probably prevented any crews from doing work...

Guess I chose the right time to get a gauge

From the latest Euro00z model showing the Temp Anomaly at 5000' next 9 days.

Warm East-Cold West. Don't expect Fall or Frost next 10 days. Jet Stream doesn't want to dip for us. #NoFall

Also today was supposed to be a sunny day. You all said yesterday was it for rain.

Not so fast.

Today and tomorrow are now 100% cloudcover with potential continued rain.

Sunny October 2018 days to date thus far? 0

39 years ago today. WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 and their (then) low-budget news cast.

Last night's storm was incredible. Around 11-11:30 on the shoreline east of New Haven it was impressive.

Those jetstream charts are disappointing; I've come to accept in recent years that fall doesn't truly start until all the leaves are off the trees. Another two weeks or so of summer...

The storm was a lot stronger than I thought. The lightning was frequent and the booms were actually shaking my home and would rattle on much longer than what seemed normal. Right up till 1230 or so.

Skies are clear and sun is out as of 8am in Wallingford. Not a cloud in sight at the moment.
