You should have seen the line of cars going into Costco earlier today, couldn't snap a pic, was the only person in the car...

It's the worst I've ever seen...

Rebooked a flight out of JFK for Wed at 1040... we'll see how long that one lasts!

Thanks, Cambium .. didn't mean to interrupt this thread by any means.

Batten down the hatches everyone and stay safe, warm and dry. Hoping you don't lose power.

Lots of school districts besides NYC starting to declare closures (Greenwich, Stamford and Norwalk are good examples).

BTW, here's OKX's "max potential" map to compliment the other maps I posted about a page ago:

Also, this graphic was shown on the Westchester News 12 site. Wow that rain/snow line comes mighty close to NYC and to the CT coast (entire SNE coast for that matter)......have to wonder....maybe this is behind Weather Channel's thinking?

I'm prepared for tomorrow physically......mentally no.....
Looking forward to sleeping late and not having to drive to work so there is a positive at least......seriously though, what are the totals looking like? I am seeing 8-12 on Accuweather in my area but then in the bulletin it shows 18-24........

My wife said the grocery store was out of carts at 9 this morning it was so packed (she always shops Mon morning). Said It was almost all retirees I expect it will be much worse now as people are trickling out of work.

Cambium, I always love these weather threads of yours -- thank you, as always, for the terrific information you post!

I am in NH, not CT, but have been following this thread with interest. I'm in the Monadnock region of NH (southwest corner of the state) ... first the forecast said 5-8" of snow tomorrow, then it was 8-11", then "a foot or more," then it was 14-18", now it's back to "a foot or more." I am hoping that it keeps going down so by the time I go to bed it will say 1-3" -- ha! Don't think that's going to happen!!

I actually don't mind snow at all -- not even huge amounts -- as long as we don't lose power. Oddly, none of the storm warnings in my area mention the possibility of outages (and usually they do), which makes me hopeful that this snow is going to be the light fluffy stuff, which is NOT likely to cause outages, at least where I live ... I haven't heard anything about that, though. I don't have a generator since power outages in my area are very rare -- maybe one every year or two (and often in the summer) for a few hours at the most. (Knock wood!!)

Never understood this mentality, unless people think there will be outages that will last for days? Do people all run out of "bread and milk" (that seems to be the battle cry) just before a storm is coming? Seems unlikely!

Well, I am going to take a break from my computer to go bring up some comforters from the basement (that's where all our extra bedding is stored) just in case we lose power, since we will then have no heat. Now THAT scares me, but again, it's really rare up here ... knock wood again ...
