I suppose they are just trying to avoid having highways completely choked up by abandoned vehicles, but you can bet I'm going for a drive tomorrow in my little corner of the world... just for fun.. why spend all this $$ on toys and not get to use them?

New GFS a hair west as well. Oh boy.

Here, look at what a ~20 mile shift does..

See the "L"? That's the center of the storm. The left most frame is the current update, the other is the previous update.

Focus on NYC for example. All snow or change to rain? That little position difference means everything! Note the heavier snows too are pushed a tad further west. This is for 2pm timeframe.

A storm naturally wobbles this much so tomorrow it could be 20 miles EAST.. Nobody is a psychic!

So you're saying JFK could get more rain than snow? that'd be great.

Not more rain. JFK would get a change to sleet or rain INSTEAD of all snow. 6-12" will fall first, then the change if that's how close the storm will be tomorrow.

Ah boy - I do think Jetblue was a little nuts to cancel an 830am Wed morning flight out of HPN.. everything seems to indicate the snow will be over by 10pm Tuesday night.. it's only one runway... but I guess these people know what they are doing..

They just said on NBC 30, Bristol doesn't anticipate all roads back to normal for a week!!! How is that even possible? Nobody paying taxes?

It makes perfect sense.

If they are not going to keep the roads clean or at least attempt to keep them clean, the next best thing is to put in effect a travel ban. Not only does it makes sense, it's the responsible thing to do.

I'm no Camb, but I set up a rinky-dink weather station of my own. Exciting stuff!

I've got marks at around 8-9 inches, 24 inches, and 33 inches.

Travel bans have bee issued many times in the past - it's nothing new.

I'm also pretty certain the CT DOT is going to bust their behinds to ensure roadways are clear for essential personnel.
