I feel there's plenty of discussion in this thread. I also check, and trust, the forecast here more than most in the media.

Crap. New NAM out now has 4-8" of snow across CT Thursday. Previous update had rain. Problem is....morning commute. Ugh.

Here's a surface map at 7am Thursday. Storm just coming off the Delaware coast. Lightly snowing across CT but heavier in Western CT 4-7am here. All those darker blues = heavy snow falling that would move over us Thursday morning and lunchtime.

Here's an animation Wednesday evening to Thursday evening from this update

I'm already working from home tomorrow after last weeks 2.5 hour commute in the snow home. Now debating if staying home Wednesday/Thursday is in the cards as well or just Thursday.

This thread is not going to be closed. The only reason it would be closed is that it is getting too long but we would replace it with a new thread on the same topic. We would not do that until after the winter has passed so maybe sometime in the Spring a new thread will be started and this one closed down. JayCT, Moderator

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
1051 AM EST MON FEB 6 2017

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR SOUTHERN
CONNECTICUT...NORTHEAST NEW JERSEY AND SOUTHEAST NEW YORK..

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A WINTER STORM LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT INTO
THURSDAY. THE POTENTIAL FOR PLOWABLE SNOW IS INCREASING AND THERE IS
THE POSSIBILITY FOR 6 OR MORE INCHES.

UNCERTAINTY WITH THIS STORM IS HIGH AS THE ATMOSPHERE DYNAMICS THAT
WILL POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE STORM TO DEVELOP ALONG OUR COAST ARE
STILL OUT OVER THE PACIFIC OCEAN. THIS STORM, IF IT DOES DEVELOP,
SHOULD BE A FAST MOVER AND BE OUT TO SEA BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

New NAM18z model says school delays maybe closures Thursday morning Southern NY into southern New england. 6-12" across the region. Wtf. I dont buy that. The speed of the storm says thats impossible. UNLESS ratios will be high.

Then only 1/2" liquid falling would mean 8-10"
