Yes, it was quite a harrowing weekend, with all the buildup and preparation. Many of our colleagues east of the CT river lost power for 2+ days, if I recall.

Where I am east of the river, I lost power for almost a week!

5 years already?? Wow how times pass. Still the worst one for me was snowtober.

So gets cooler next weekend I'm hearing? Where is Cambium?? Summer is basically over!

Agree. Snowtober (ironically, later that same year), was truly the worst. 9+ days without power...hope to never experience that again in my lifetime.

I think Cam will be back when the heat is finally over... Which doesn't look like anytime soon. Summer is far from over...

This August is going to probably go down as the warmest on record.

Slight cool down next weekend... But models are showing some insane heat building right after that into September.

From NWS Boston.

While we don't often use the words "the heat of September" It looks like that may be fully appropriate per the latest outlooks from CPC.

September 22nd at 10:21 AM Eastern. I will say that again at a later time!

Some people hated me after Irene. I was one of the few in central Connecticut who never fully lost power. Same with the snow storm two months later. Dips? At least one with each, maybe? A flicker? A couple with Irene, if I remember correctly.

From what I remember, it wasn't all that bad in New Britain's south end until roughly 11 PM on Saturday the 27th. Then it started to go downhill. I doubt anybody got to sleep that night!

Can't recall Irene being that bad where I was in CT. Knew a few people on the coast who's homes were flooded. I wasn't on call for the ambulance during the Storm, but remember the hospital being cut off due to heavy rain. Couldn't recall if the ambulance shut down because after certain wind speed couldn't go on the roads.

Snowtober was the worse though. Lost power for almost 2 weeks and was bitter cold the weeks after. It was like a diaster movie with huge trees down and power lines were down everywhere. I don't even think phone lines worked. Looked like a snownado.

The Fairfield photo could be of Penfield Pavilion which was badly damaged by Irene. Jay
