Dew point is down to 54 here in New Britain. A northwest flow makes such a huge difference!

Whoa, you're right! Didn't realize the flow change. Check it out.

Current dewpoints and winds at 5000'. Same direction at surface and even 18,000 feet.

But notice Bridgeport, New Haven, Groton, and Islip, still muggy. Wonder if its just residual or actually being near the water.

Or actually its the clouds and the moisture in the air. Front hasn't pushed off shore yet. PUSH!!

Wow! White River Junction, VT dew point down to 47 F/8 C! I wish it could've been that dry when I was in Brattleboro on Saturday! That walk up US Route 5 was murder!

Are dewpoints normally elevated like that along the coastline compared to inland? I've been jealous of the ~4-5 degree warmer winter temps but if it comes at the price of summertime humidity I'm not so sure.

Typically yes... with today it's just the fact that there is a front that's stalled near the coast so there is still moisture in the atmosphere making the coast more humid.

But yeah, being closer to the water would typically do that. Notice the winds at Bridgeport from the South. As opposed from the West or Northwest in Hartfords.

So winds are coming right off the sound into Coastal CT

6pm Dewpoints..

You can see why the dewpoints are in the muggy 60s still across Long Island and Coastal NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA.

Arrows are the surface winds.

Dry 53 in Danbury, Muggy 64 in Bridgeport. Humid 60 IMBY

Stalled front at the coast. What else is new

Tomorrow & Thursday is looking unbelievable! Sunny, Dry and 70s? What is that like? Can't wait!

NWS NY

Quote:
National Weather Service New York NY
136 PM EDT TUE MAY 31 2016

A weak cold front moves south of Long Island this afternoon then
washes out south of the area. A second cold front moves through
this evening, followed by high pressure building down from
southeast Canada through Thursday.

The cold front is now moving across area of Long Island and
eastern Connecticut. Mostly sunny skies are being observed behind
the front.

Model consensus take this front just south of the area where it
washes out by afternoon. Afternoon seabreezes are already being
observed and should continue through the day.

First 2 days of Meteo summer starting off right.
