March 20-21, 2016 Storm:

Overnight models got colder for the weekend..BUT... the storm is too far off the coast.

Check out the Euro. HUGE storm (Sub 980mb) but the heaviest snows are out over the ocean. Not far at all and given its still 6 days away, this isn't the exact track yet.

This scenario from the Euro would give us a Cold Light Snow Sunday night.

Just have to get the right setup and helloooooo, that goes for mid Winter too. Give me a break people who use the Calendar to support their comments.

Who says it can't? But your graphics really prove the point..its a rarity in late March as it is in November.

Nobody said it can't. I'm just hoping it won't.

I'm seeing people (including mets) on social media saying "It's March" trying to make the claim that it wont. Another peeve of mine. It's the same friggin thing for middle of winter. Think about it. The track has to be good and the temps have to be good and there has to be moisture around EVEN IN WINTER!

How about they mention what the models are showing and what needs to happen or not happen instead of using the damn calendar. Ugh. Frustrating that some of them have a degree. Give me a break!

On that note... Euro Ensembles are a complete hammer job for the big cities. 12"+ from Philly to Boston. Track is off the coast and it's cold enough for it. Does that mean it will happen?? NO! But it doesn't mean it wont because it's March 20th. Ugh

EuroEPS last night Monday 2am on left. 8am on right. This would be insane. Dotted blue line is the rain/snow line, dark green and blue colors are very heavy moisture falling.

Big storm just off the coast with enough cold air.

The snow total result from that update... Insane.

Didnt we get a few inches of snow around march 20 just last year?

Fun personal story about the 1970 storm. We were living in the Bronx and my sister was born a week earlier and had to stay in the hospital for various reasons and my dad got stuck in it trying to go there bring her home from (Mt. Vernon hospital just a few miles away and she and my mom got to stay an extra night while my grandma watched me at home (I was 2 1/2 at the time)

I wouldn't totally be fine with a big storm this weekend. The winter that wasn't and its' last hurrah! besides even if we got 6 inches, it wouldn't stick around.

There's precedent though, in 1998 NYC had only 0.5" up to this point and then 5" fell on March 22. The winter of 1996-97 was light for CT (dont know exact amounts) and then a big storm fell March 31 into April 1, especially in northern and eastern CT (and more so Boston which got a historic 2 feet, but not sure what the snow totals were like for them to that point and dont have time to look it up right now)

The even more historic April 6, 1982 storm of over a foot came off a relatively light winter snow wise

I was living near Worcester at the time and that storm was memorable, for sure.
