On phone now so limited but will post maps later.

Radar not looking impressive to me. Last Friday was VERY impressive. Doesnt mean it cant get some extra Atlantic moisture to work with. Heads up Eastern CT!

This storm is already deep as far as pressure. Big.

Also.. Self reminder, radar beams dont go too far over the Atlantic so we dont see all of the moisture around the storm.

What else is new this winter? Todays models trended more with the moisture and west with the storm. Lol

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
349 PM EST SUN FEB 7 2016

.SYNOPSIS...
INTENSIFYING LOW PRESSURE ALONG THE SOUTHEAST U.S. COAST WILL
TRACK TO THE NORTH TONIGHT AND WILL PASS WELL SOUTH AND EAST OF
LONG ISLAND ON MONDAY. THAT LOW THEN TRACKS INTO THE CANADIAN
MARITIMES MONDAY NIGHT. AN UPR LVL SYS WILL THEN SPIN OVER THE
REGION THRU THE END OF THE WEEK. AN ARCTIC AIRMASS OVERSPREADS THE
AREA FOR THE WEEKEND.

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH MONDAY/...
12Z MODEL GUIDANCE ALL IN DECENT AGREEMENT AND HAVE BROUGHT
ABOUT AN INCREASE IN PRECIP ACROSS THE REGION. AS A
RESULT...TRENDED HIGHER WITH QPF AND SNOWFALL
...AND HAVE GONE
AHEAD AND ISSUED WINTER STORM WARNINGS AND WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORIES FOR MUCH OF THE CWA.

HIGH PRES JUST SOUTH OF THE REGION CONTINUES TO MOVE OFFSHORE THIS
EVENING. MEANWHILE...LOW PRES CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY OFF THE
SOUTHEAST U.S. COAST...AND THAT LOW WILL PASS EAST OF CAPE
HATTERAS AFTER MIDNIGHT...AND WILL CONTINUE ON AN E-NE TRACK FROM
LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY. 1035 MB HIGH PRES BUILDS INTO EASTERN
CANADA...AND ANOTHER LOW DIVES INTO THE GREAT LAKES AND OHIO
VALLEY FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY.

THE 12Z NAM/GFS/ECMWF HAVE ALL COME IN WITH THE LOW A BIT FARTHER
TO THE WEST
...JUST ENOUGH TO SPREAD HEAVIER PRECIP INTO EASTERN
AREAS. MODELS INDICATING HIGHER QPF AMOUNTS FOR THE REGION...AND
WITH COLDER AIR IN PLACE...EXPECTING PRECIP TO FALL AS SNOW.

THE HIGHEST QPF AMOUNTS WILL FALL OVER EASTERN LONG ISLAND AND SE
CT...WHERE 4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE. WINTER STORM
WARNINGS HAVE BEEN ISSUED FOR THOSE AREAS.

Don't forget to use the Hourly weather forecasts. Good to get an idea on when the snow will start.

Not sure. Cool name for the storm.

I wish they would stop naming storms, who gave them the right to name them. My boat/house policy has different rules for "named" storms. I swear if the weather channel names a storm and geico says "well it was a named storm, so triple deductible" it's going to be a heated moment!

FYI... if this thing jogs west, the coast will be a disaster with wind, flooding, and feet of snow. This is a monster storm. For now, expect 5-8" for eastern half of state
