He used CT as a way to get a good deal from Mass. While there's no proof that it was apart of Krafts agenda, I think when Kraft said, "it's glad to be back in the real New England" once he got the deal from Mass, it makes it even more clear.

LOL Kraft never had any intention of ever bringing the patriots here. We were duped by a con artist. Regardless I've never supported them again.

Here is a nice addition to downtown Hartford. United Bank will be consolidating and expanding its suburban corporate offices downtown at the Goodwin Building. They are moving 200 employees there which is good for downtown (bad for Glastonbury though). Jay

Here is a very interesting article on Hartford's Economic Development Director. He seems to be on the right track. I just hope he is able to follow through and deliver on what others have failed to deliver on. Jay

I didn't want Candlewood to be built but it is what it is. I haven't heard anything about the Hard Rock Cafe and Hotel lately. Wonder if that'll go through since there's been hostility between Hartford and the developer.

Why did you not want Candlewood to be built? It seems like it would be a welcome addition to NoDo and the city's tax base.

I am not sure but I would guess that the Hard Rock Hotel went bye-bye with the developer that was fired from the ballpark. That is unfortunate because it would have made another welcomed addition to the area and filled a pretty big hole. Heck I even thought that it should have been the location of the third casino since it would add to the city. I do not think that gambling is something that needs to be isolated from the rest of the world and if done right, could add people (and their money) to the city. JMHO, Jay

The only thing about it that I like is that it was built with private money. Other than that, I don't think new hotels are appropriate in and around downtown Hartford since it may oversaturate the hotel market. You have the Radisson across the street, the Hilton by the XL Center, Homewood Suites on Asylum, Residence Inn on Main St, the Hartford Downtown Marriott, and countless more in East Hartford across the river. That piece of property that Candlewood was built on had so much potential and building another hotel in that area may counter the willingness for Hard Rock to build a prestigious hotel brand right down the road. If the Hard Rock Hotel ends up not being built then Hartford made a huge mistake ditching something many cities would die for. This wasn't Hartford's first mistake in this situation though. They hired the developer that offered the lowest bid and they have a history of not completing projects on time so they knew it was going to happen.
