Then why are people here screaming about the state's incentive to retain and expand a company like Bridgewater which has 1,200 employees here and is projected to grow to over 2,000 in the coming years. The incentives were modest in comparison at $24 million and Bridgewater is the world's largest hedge fund. Seems like a no brainer to me. Jay

Trees vs. Forest I guess.

It's unfortunate that states have to play this incentive game but it's the way the system works. Just be thankful you're not in Nevada where they are giving the Raiders $750 million to build a stadium.

And that's on top of the (lost) economic impact of not having the stadium open for the 2016 season as was the original plan.

That's news? Who actually thought the super cool "yard goats" would be a profitable venture? For such a snobbishly educated state, we should have access to better marketing professionals...

Let's not forgot the behind the scenes lawsuits going on. Depending on who has the better lawyers Hartford could be seeing another $100m loss.

Starting with the secret behind-closed-doors way in which this was done by Segarra & cronies, with zero input from the citizens, this whole thing has been a disaster. I hope I'm proven wrong, for Hartford's financial sake!

Not true. I am pretty sure the New Britain Rock Cats were successful which is why they were able to move to Hartford and become the Yardgoats. Jay

It looks like the state legislature is looking to compromise on the plan to shift teacher pension funding from the state to the towns by gradually phasing it in over several years. I suspect that was Governor Malloy's plan all along but he initially proposed towns funding 1/3 the pensions immediately to get people's attention. True political maneuvering. We will see. Jay
