Yep! $62 million.

Remember in 2014, CT gave $30 million to Starwood. Wonder if we can recoup some of that money.

Governor signed the bill to keep Sikorsky in-state with $220M in incentives. It doesn't make clear how many more jobs would be added but they promised to double their spending on in-state suppliers. Source: Malloy Signs Bill To Keep Sikorsky In Connecticut | WSHU

This has commentary from other legislators on this deal: Lawmakers commented on signing of bill to keep Sikorsky in CT - WFSB 3 Connecticut

What a horrible horrible deal!

Governor raises taxes then gives breaks to his buddies in industry. This is why we have corruption and rent seeking.

Pathetic pathetic pathetic CT!

The pathetic thing about the Starwood deal is that the company moved from Interstate 287 in White Plains. So an empty office building in Stamford was filled, but hardly anyone moved into Stamford. It was beyond stupid.

So the only real beneficiary was the owner of the office building and perhaps a couple of delis downstairs. All for $30 MILLION.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.

If they left people would be screaming about jobs leaving Connecticut. If he incentives them to say, he's giving "breaks to his buddies in the industry."

There's no winning.

Every state is competing now to take each others jobs. States like Florida and Texas could easily swoop right in
and give them massive incentives to move to their state so our only option is to either give them money or tax breaks. Like others have said, it's either this or there's a big chance they'll be gone.

You can not hate employers and love jobs. I'm sorry but the world isn't fair and money has no conscience. Companies will go where they produce the most profit. And they will take their jobs with them.

In a high tax, high energy cost state like Connecticut, you cannot compete unless you offer economic incentives. That's reality. And no amount of wishing or posturing changes that fact.

As much as I hate it we have 50 states competing for business. Almost all are willing to give cash or tax breaks to get it. I don;t see away around it at the moment. In the end the current competition is only good for business execs, share holders and not much else.

It seems like a loooot of money though, for no specific guarantee of growing jobs. And it's not going to be the HQ anymore anyway, because of the Lockheed merger right? Tough position for a state to be in.
