I think discussing this properly would take this thread way off topic. So, let's save that for another time.

This graph shows the per capita Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States in 2015, by federal state.

1) Alaska (oil)
2) North Dakota (oil)
3) Connecticut

If the CT economy is so bad how do we explain this also?

46 professors gave to Democrats, in a certain time frame, according to the articles that tout the 99% figure. How many professors are there in the top 50 liberal arts colleges? 5,000? 10,000? What % of the overall faculty count actually financially supported the Democrats. Much, much less than these headlines would have you believe.

Academia, no doubt, leans left, but, for the most part, it will not influence curriculum or lectures outside of select disciplines (I'm looking at you Women's and Gender Studies!)

It's like saying "it rains in Las Vegas." Of course its rains there 4 days out of 365. But it is totally inaccurate to equate Las Vegas with Seattle.

Like in the US as a whole, I think we're seeing that the economy and GDP are strong as a whole but more people are being left behind. Winners winning more but losers having a harder time turning to winners.

Pretty much richer keep getting richer and poor keep getting poorer. Ct is a prime example of that saying. Big gap between rich and poor. Its actually almost to the point now its a huge difference between middle class and rich but not much difference between poor and middle class. Lower middle class that is but you get the gist of it

Just so everyone understands the Gross State Product is different from the Per Capita Income. It is based on business/companies. There are a lot of wealthy seniors who are getting social security and also interest on retirement savings but that is not a part of the Gross State Product....at least I don't think it is.

Gross state product (GSP), or gross regional product (GRP), is a measurement of the economic output of a state or province (i.e., of a subnational entity). It is the sum of all value added by industries within the state and serves as a counterpart to the gross domestic product (GDP).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gross_state_product

This is an important indicator of the business/economics in the state and at #3 CT looks good to me.
