New Hampshire isn't too bad because it doesn't have income tax...it's just the property taxes that are high.

But the property taxes in New Hampshire are lower than Connecticut

The problem with NH is the cold IMO

Anywhere Amtrak Northeast corridor goes or Metro North most towns are pricey.

Wages are typically lower in New Hampshire as well. The median income in Connecticut is higher than New Hampshire.

That isn't relevant

What matters is if your occupation's wage is higher or lower in NH

Accountants make about the same in both states, clearly you are better off living in NH

It isn't even close. Period.

Not sure how they compare year to year, but just a year or two ago, New Hampshire had the highest median income in the country.

I'm not sure where you saw that, but HH income has been MD/CT/NJ for a long time, and CT has held the #1 spot for per capita income for as long as I can remember.

Apologies. It was a bit longer ago than I thought:

So I finally caught up on MetroCOGs 2015 reports a few things popped out as I was reading I thought was interesting.

They estimated that Eastern Fairfield County is solely under officed compared to national standards, under retailed by nearly 2MM sq feet, and could handle about an additional 15k housing units with absolutely zero infrastructure improvements if planned correctly. That's a whole lot of pent up demand waiting to be tapped into.

MetroCOG also is really pushing for a three pronged Fastrak like system with circular feeder bus routes (unlike the current GBT system) that's more focused on Fairfield U, Fairfield Center, and Stratford Center instead of just emanating out of Bridgeport Transit Center. While the BRT might be pie in the sky right now a more spider web of a bus system would help out a lot and is likely going to be implemented in a few years.

As well looks like the COG wants to spread the economic development a bit more evenly than Western COG wants to in it's region (consolidate more in Stamford and Norwalk). Although I doubt Greater Bridgeport could compete with Stamford on prime office space, might be a decent location for R & D, back office, and flex manufacturing from here on out.

With a renewed interest in New Haven research space, Hartford's downtown office space slowly filling back up, Stamford's smaller work spaces filling up most of CT's major metropolitan areas seem to be primed for steady growth across the board. Just need to coordinate transit and housing to really tap into sane development for the next few years.
