Guess what? Apple, HP and Microsoft (for example) have moved HQ operations to TX over the past fifteen years. Followed last week by Toyota's announcement. You think any of those workers would have moved if TX were the hillbilly place y'all make it out to be, and they thought their kids were going to be left in the lurch in the global economy? Except for Toyota HQ, those jobs moved in the 90s.

Excuse me while I go pick my teeth with some used-up shotgun shells, lol!
Excellent post. Everyone must compete every day, and there are many industries that have added jobs where no one would have predicted it 25 years ago.

Des Moines, Iowa for instance. Does anyone know what industry that city ranks 3rd globally in, regarding headcount? I do, but I'll allow a few shots at others guessing.

Hartford begs to differ. As does London, #2 in Insurance jobs.

I hear Allstate is also a good company to work for. I don't work in insurance, not my field of expertise, but being ex-military and if I had the desire to work in that industry I would probably apply with USAA. I like the companies values and what they stand for.

Microsoft, Apple and HP do not have HQs in Texas. Redmond, WA and Silicon Valley respectively.
