We live in Fairfield and are looking for something fun to do for new years. Does anyone have any ideas of what local places have new years things going on? Don't want to go far and somewhere along the train route would be ideal so we don't have to drive. However, would love to hear all possibilities.
You should check out the scene in South Norwalk. Lots of places have parties. I think I paid like $75 a few years ago for open bar and finger food at Black Bear in South Norwalk.

The living room of your house is the best place.
Invite some close friends, and have a party at your house. That way you don't have to worry about missing the train, worry about drunk drivers on the road, etc.
That is a really good idea, we will entertain staying at home. Or maybe we'll go have a nice dinner somewhere and come home and watch the ball drop or something.
I never think going out on New Years is worthwhile. We are planning on having my parents over, watching Ryan Secrest, seeing if Dick Clark looks any better this year, and making some hors douvers. We're going to do some of the earlier First Night Westport activities but will be home by 9:30.
That sounds great actually. What we did last year was fun. We had dinner at pacifico and went to see Spamalot in New Haven at the schubert. We stayed at the Omni down the street. Went back to the hotel after the show to freshen up. We walked to a local bar at 11:45pm, got some free champagne and stood packed in for 15 minutes til midnight. Said happy new year and got the heck out of there and went back to the hotel. It was a great evening.
