Said happy new year and got the heck out of there and went back to the hotel. It was a great evening.
Black Bear is alright (I personally don't like the bro crowd) but it's not going to be at that level. New Haven and Stamford have more interesting bars in greater quantity than SoNo. I like Ginger Man in SoNo though.

Last year Daniel Street in Milford had a special open bar and a show by Beatles A-Z. I think they're doing that again. Unfortunately it is their last night open until the new owners take over. Such a great place.

Edit: it looks like they're doing it again: https://www.facebook.com/events/170189909732197/

Somehow NY eve has never been fun at any of the local bars (Milford and surrounding). So either get to the city or lower your expectations

The Times Square thing seems dumb to me. Stand around freezing your ass off in a pen for hours with ridiculous crowds. I've also heard you can't go to the bathroom, and get the occasional drunk puking within nose-shot. No thanks.

The only way I would experience that is from a bar/apartment/hotel with a view, warm and comfortable with friends and stocked up on booze.
