Last nt. I ran a full MSE scan. A red warning alert came up and notified me that MSE was not updated. Last nt the program finally told me that it couldn't update and that I was at risk. I finished running the MSE scan anyway and no threats occurred. This am I went to MSE and my "history" looks like my scan was fine. Just to be sure, I tried to update MSE and I'm getting that never ending progress bar. I hope my scan results were correct.
Has anyone had this difficulty with MSE updates? The msg I got was that updates couldn't be made due to connection problems.
Thanks for your suggestions
I'm in the process of updating MSE which is required with the reinstall.
Unfortunately I'm getting the never ending progress bar again .
I think I will try again
Jaypee, thanks for that link, people have had a hard time with updates since April. They have a fix but it's multiple steps.
I'm thinking about another anti virus. Haven't had good luck with AVG.
Do you have any free ones you like ?
If you are a windows 7 user and go to sevenforums.com you will see that over a million people on a whole page of threads are having problems with downloading updates.
Clicking on 'update' causes up to 100$ of CPU usage using wuausserv and trustedinstaller. and checking for updates goes on forever.
There are dozens of 'fixes' suggested by 'experts'. None of them have worked for me. I've set 'update' to never check so the computer works in a normal mode.
Thanks D4G4m.
I gave up on Win7 MS updates too. Too many forums in which all the steps MS advises do not help them.
I was surprised that MS isn't updateing MSE but win 10 has it built in, I hear. Clearly, MS has decided to put no more time/money into win 7. I ended up downloading Avast.
