I've installed it on one machine so far but I haven't had a chance to let it scan a known-infected drive yet. It's a quick download and install so that's good. The problem with evaluating any security software is that I just don't get malware to begin with so it's tough to know if a product is any good. But having a small footprint (first, do no harm) is a step in the right direction compared to most commercial products. I'll have to start installing it for other people and see what happens.
I installed MSE a week ago. So far so good. I was using the McAfee freebie from AOL and it was just killing my laptop. MSE stays nicely in the background and I can actually use my laptop again.
Reviews are only of limited use, PC mag seems to love Norton for what ever reason, I can find just as many bad reviews of norton as good ones, same with MSE or any other piece of software, certain sites seem to have a bias towards a particular AV app.
I have been using it since the day of release. No complaints so far.
