While listening to my iPod Nano, I like to rate songs. In many cases, when I sync the iPod, iTunes automatically updates to reflect my activity on the iPod. For example, the playcount will increase and the rating will be whatever I chose while listening to the iPod. My problem is that this is not consistent, and I don't know why. I know that if I update iTunes between iPod syncs, then the iTunes info will take precedence. So, for example, if I rate a song 3 on my iPod, but rate the song 4 in iTunes library before I sync, the rating will be 4, not 3. So, to eliminate this priority problem, I sync just before going to bed, then close iTunes on my computer. Then I listen to the iPod for a while and rate songs. First thing in the morning, I sync. This works great about 75% of the time. The 25% failure rate annoys me. My ratings and playcount updates fail to transfer to iTunes. Is there a way to force iTunes to accept my ratings and playcount updates from the iPod?
Haven't tried this with my iPod yet, I don't know if it'll work, but since this is unanswered, you might give it a try (I'm guessing this is just for Macs):
