"Columbus Commons"--kind of like Boston Commons---but not....definitely not.

Funny how the Continent died because its style became out of vogue. Is there really a difference between Easton and the idea behind the layout of the Continent (in its heyday)? The mix of stores, restaurants, and apartments are very similar. Columbus falls in love with its newest mall and then everything else dies. Then someone builds a newer flashier mall and the previous one dies.

That is the way the free market works. Some businesses survive, some don't. I don't know why you would expect a mall in Columbus or any other city to be the excpetion.

And it is Boston Common. Not Commons.
That's a common mistake for people to make.

True, just about every city has the dead shopping mall downtown. But I've seen few that have as many dead malls in the outlying areas as Cowtown has.

what dead malls r u referring to, continent still has some patrons and stores, and northland has been completely torn down and has been redeveloped as well as the entire length of morse rd btw 71 and 270... something runs out of use it dies, then we tear it down and put something useful in its place

I meant dead shopping malls in other cities, not just in Columbus. It happens everywhere in downtown areas, unfortunately.

I am not familiar with downtown Columbus, but wouldn't a park be a great thing for the downtown residents as well? Here in Portland they built a park in the middle of the Pearl District (loaded w/high rise condos) called Jamison Square and the place is very popular, and not just with the suits during lunch hour. It enhances the livability of the downtown core.

Though you are correct Columbus already has a couple of parks adjacent to downtown that are similar to Jamison Square, Schiller Park and Goodale Park.

I can pretty much bet that Easton will not see a decline. I live closer to Polaris, but will drive past it to get to get to Easton. I don't think a store like Tiffany would have built in Easton if they did not feel that it would be the right fit for now or in the future. Wexner moved quite a few of his stores around to make room for the famous store.
