Some places have good Mexican food, but perhaps not the standard ambience to go with it.

Mill Stop is a local fav but may not have that Wow Factor some objective observers might be looking for.

The Pantry and Nachos are local favorites too, depends on what you like vs what they serve.

The best meal I have found in Pueblo to date is the Martinez Cafe from my list above and I recommend the Polk Street Special. The dish comes with two types of meat and two sides. I recommend the Chorizo and Beef, then the beans and potatoes.

The meal comes Christmas style, red and green chile, the closest thing I've seen in this town to good New Mexico type food. It's quite hot too.

You have to be very careful planning this place as the hours of operation and seating are very limited. Also, they have very strict rules in this place, it's a quirky place. For instance, just turn your cell phone all the way off. Get there earlier rather than later. If you show up after about 12:30, they'll likely be out of stuff. Also, don't go in groups larger than four. The place seats about 15. Don't expect to lollygag and hang around too long either. Eat and get out. Make room for the next round of customers. It's an extremely local spot. If this is too much for you, drive on down to the San Luis Valley or continue on to Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

Cactus Flower is fine for ambience, decent food, good parking and accessibility, etc., though a bit chainy. Three Margaritas is similar. There's one out in Pueblo West now too.

A new place in Pueblo West called El Super Taco by Walmart is pretty darned good too imo.

If you're at a Taco Stop, try the Chorizo or the Bean and chicharonnes. If at Mi Ranchitos, the Carnitas.

...

Thanks Mike for merge!

...

Papa Jose's on Historic Union street would have great ambience too, but right near there is an up and coming Sushi place you may want to try. If that's not uour thing, just a block north on Victoria is a fantastic place called Mr. Tandooris.

Couple new places in Pueblo West now too. Chicos is closed but a new place there is pretty good. I like the rellenos.

I was trying to think of the name of that thanks. Northern, just north of the mill and just east of I25? Used to be called Street Tacos?

Gee I don't know.

There's still a couple of places.

Taco Navarro on Northern on the east side of I-25, Mi Ranchitos still, Arribas, BLVD or Hwy 50 by Outlook, even better, Martinez Cafe take out, not sure if dine-in yet, Tortillerias Delicias is still great, Taco Stop has a great Bean and Cheech... Anybody add to the list?
