Colorado burning: Teller County residents ordered to evacuate, Spring Creek fire mushrooms to more than 28,000 acres

https://gazette.com/news/colorado-bu...4d3b84374.html

Now Teller County is burning too.

"A 417-acre Teller County wildfire prompted evacuations of two subdivisions Friday as firefighters scrambled to contain the blaze — one of many burning across the state as temperatures soar and extreme fire danger worsens.

The High Chateau fire, burning south of Florissant and west of Cripple Creek, was zero percent contained at last report. No structures had been lost, the Sheriff’s Office tweeted.

The blaze was reported about 12:30 p.m. on County Road 11 near mile marker 9. Mandatory evacuations were issued for the High Chateau and Highland Meadows subdivisions about 1:30 p.m."

Yesterday, June 30, a drone flight caused all air operations on the #springfire2018 in Colorado to shut down. Drones prevent essential firefighting activities and can cause aircraft to crash, killing pilots and crews. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD: DO NOT FLY DRONES OVER WILDFIRES. Please report any suspected drone use to law enforcement.
