Looking for suggestions for anywhere from a 2 week to 1 year program in acting. for adults. I have searched myself and found a few places that have such programs, I was just wanting to see if there were any suggestions that I may not have thought of.

I would like to take a break from work and do this for purely selfish reasons. I intend to bring my own money and not take out a loan for this.

Any suggestions from those who might have taken a course in acting or know someone who has?

Thanks,

Jules

What kind of acting class are you looking for -- live theatre, film, commercial, voice-over?

Do you plan to stay where you are or can you move (even temporarily) to a larger city?

Backstage.com has a pretty comprehensive list of schools in NYC:

New York Acting Schools & Coaches

HB Studios has a pretty good reputation, AFAIK, and they offer a six-week summer intensive program.

A couple of the "TV acting" schools aren't worth the subway fare -- DM me if you want the names.

Backstage.com also has its own set of forums dedicated to actors -- you might want to post your question there, especially if you're focusing on NYC. Actorsaccess.com has a similar forum that seems more oriented to the West Coast/LA.

Good luck!

If you're studying acting just for the sake of studying it, you'd be much better served by finding out if your local community theatre has classes for adults.
