The city council is looking at building a Basketball Park on Albemarle Avenue. I assume it will be an outdoor facility, being they called it a park, as opposed to a gym. Greenville owns ~.3 acre tracts of land right at Albermarle and Bonner Lane. It would be awesome if they bought the "City Cab" which is located right on 5th St. That place looks super crappy.
They also own a block on Albermarle, in between Virgina and Carolina. So who knows what will be built, if anything
To help some of us newcomers to the area understand the phenominal growth that Greenville has seen there are some city maps on the ECU website from various years. It's hard to tell which decade has had the most growth but it has been going to town since at least the 1960's.
Have anyone heard anything concerning the issue with walmart and the traffic light? Have they come up with another location for the traffic light? I hope the developer does not back out on the whole thing.
Carolina Ale House will have two stores. Second story, IIRC, will be outdoor seating. Outdoor seating would be soo much better downtown, instead of Greenville Blvd. Could you imagine if this was on 1st St, "nearish" to the Tar?
The City Council is "pressuring" the police chief in creating a new substation. I can't recall the intersection, but that area had the highest number of calls over last year. Councilman Joyner has a property he offered up for free which is located there.
More police/substations/foot patrols = less crime.
Somewhere, I think in TDR, it stated where we are a little below the average #cops/people. One thing we can't skimp on are good cops.

You know something? They can't have it both ways. Just last week the city council was complaining about police overtime and this week they want more of a police presence. One or the other. Make up your minds.
