Okay so my husband and I are about to by a new starter home in Holly Ridge. We wanted to be inbetween Camp Lejeune and Wilmington.
What are your thoughts on the town Holly Ridge? We need the good and bad comments please!! Anyone who has been there and remembers any businesses, restaraunts, or anything, it would be very helpful.

Thanks!

There really isn't too much business in Holly Ridge - There's a smokehouse restaurant on Hwy 17, there is a dentist, post office, bank, great auto repair shop, and a few other scattered things, but you will be close to Surf City and there is plenty there for you to enjoy and to meet your daily needs, plus it is close to the beach. Hope you will enjoy your time in NC!

Default P.S. to my last message

Do not EVER speed in Holly Ridge - they will nail you - they work hard on catching speedsters...and the speed limit on Hwy 17 is 45 mph through there.... so just be aware!

Always good to know especially because I'm coming from somewhere in which the speed limit is 70!
Thanks

Holly Ridge is a nice town... I have family and friends who live there, and I have been going up there a lot with my family since I was a young child.

AND now that I'm here.....Holly Ridge has a brand new 24 hour gym. No one mentioned that 2 minutes up the road (technically the beginning of Surf City) is a Food Lion, Deli, Bakery, Coffee Shop, Nail Salon, Pizza place, Dollar Tree, Spa, and a great Thai restaurant. All good things to know and visit ; )

We're all waiting for the Harris Teeter to open some time in 2010. I'll be moving permanently to my home in Surf City in March, next door to my mom. She has gotten to really dislike Food Lion. Even though Harris Teeter tends to be more expensive, the quality and quantity of goods is far superior. I agree the Thai restaurant is excellent. I hope you're enjoying your new home, I'm counting the days to my retirement.
