Hello all,

I'm taking my girlfriend on a trip to Outer Banks soon and was thinking of popping the question (!), but not sure yet where or how to do it.

The best idea I have so far is to take her on a coastal helicopter tour and have it stop somewhere nice and do it there....

Runner-up is to just do it from the balcony of our room where we are staying.

Yeah - I need some ideas from the locals!

Any thoughts? Any great places to see the sunset?

Thanks,
Anxious and Ready to Visit NC!

Oh wow, how nice that sounds! Even popping the question on the beach sounds romantic (not sure about the sunset though), taking her out to a nice restaurant and putting the ring in her dessert might work (as long as you're sure she wants dessert and the kitchen would cooperate w/ you and not lose it in the back), also thought of putting the ring in her drink but she might swallow it so that prob. wouldnt work - maybe buying one of those canned clams (or were they oysters?) that used to have pearls in them but if you buy it in advance (maybe before your trip, I think QVC used to sell them, maybe they still do) and opening it yourself and putting the ring in it and then some time when your'e walking along the water on the beach, you could 'find' the clam/oyster and give it to her (or have her find it) and open it and find the ring that way (just make sure no one else finds it first, lol) - anyway just a few thoughts - best of luck w/ everything and please let us know how it goes!

Early morning sunrise walk on the beach...not overly dramatic and it will just be the two of you. My wife would have hated a public restaurant proposal, but some girls like that sort of attention.

I gave my partner our commitment rings out by pool at place we rented in Avon.

Anywhere sound side is good for sunset the best spot is Canadian Hole below Avon before Buxton near Cape Hatteras Light House. There is parking and restrooms.
Arrive an hour before schedule sunset so you can watch it in its entirety.

Where are you staing in the Outer Banks - that is going to drive what types of places you would go to.

Jockey's Ridge at sunset.

Top of Currituck or Hatteras light house.
