I agree you will get more for your money here in Cleveland than DC, Chicago, etc. Lakewood has a bunch of condos on Detroit that are for sale. You are close to Lakewood places and not far from Ohio City, downtown, Tremont. But my best advice is drive around the neighborhoods, go into the shops and restaurants or bars and see what people say. Each area has pros and cons. You can rent a place for a small amount of time and see how things turn out too.

Hey Ritz!

I'm a 28 year old guy moving from DC (well Northern VA) to Cleveland as well.

From what I've seen, downtown Cleveland is somewhat similar to places in DC. There are plenty of bars, restaurants, ect. I can't comment on the grocery stores though. East Lakewood and near West side (Edgewater area) seem like good options too, but don't have the heavy urban density like downtown. I prefer that, but to each their own!

From what it looks like, downtown is relatively safe and as long as you keep your wits about you, I doubt you will have any problems. I've lived in Baltimore and New Orleans so I have experience with some rougher cities.

Anyways, hit me up if you have further questions or would like to grab a drink! I'm making the permanent move to CLE at the end of the month.

Take care!
